Number Games
Like playing logic puzzles, even the more “traditional-math”-based games help us exercise our brains while simultaneously practicing fluency in operations. The following games allow players to practice mathematical operations, but more importantly, they also promote the players' ability to tap into their intuition to use numbers like puzzle pieces to conquer challenges. One of the most inherent characteristics of mathematics is that you do not need a teacher to tell if you arrived at the correct solution – the numbers themselves are instant feedback. Play on!

Sequence Num6ers
Sequence is a great game for younger learners to practice their addition and subtraction skills. The goal of the game is to make five in a row, placing chips onto the numbers on the board, and players must solve the math equations in their hands in order to place a chip on the solution number. This is a great game to discuss different ways to add and subtract to arrive at an equivalent solution.

S'Math, Equate
S’Math is a Scrabble style game where players make equations, instead of words, to rack up the points. More creative equations are worth more points, making this game a great opportunity for students of all skill levels to start safe with simple equations and then branch into more intriguing and complex number statements. Equate is a very similar game but includes fractions and double digit inputs, allowing more creativity and greater challenges.

Flip 4
This is a great game for players of various mathematical levels because it allows players to practice addition, subtraction, and multiplication throughout the whole game. Players must line up four numbers in a row on the board in order to win this game, but what’s unique about Flip 4 is that players can choose to add, subtract, or multiply in order to achieve their desired spots. The board and use of dice also allow the flexibility for players to get creative in making up their own rules to combine math and strategy.

Quinto
Quinto is a fantastic game particularly for those who crave puzzle and math fused challenges. Like S’Math and Equate, Quinto is a Scrabble style game where players must play number tiles on a grid-like board, but the challenge here is that players must make number sentences that yield a solution that is a multiple of five. To score the big points, players must think creatively about how to form multiple equations in the same turn by working off of pre-existing equations. Quinto strongly reinforces the concept of multiples and can be used as a fun tool for young learners of multiplication to gain lots of practice, but the game is also intellectually stimulating for experienced math students and adults!

Munchroom Math
The Munchroom Math games are heavily "traditional math" games, but still a recommended suggestion for your child, particularly for evaluating your child's progress in elementary mathematics. Offered for two grade level ranges (Grades 2-3 and Grades 4-5), the goal of the game is to fill up your lunch tray with different foods groups, where each food group represents a different math topic: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Money & Time, and Graphs. One of the strongest points for the Munchroom Math games is to help parents and mentors evaluate how a child approaches mathematics: How does the child discuss the thought process and calculations? Are there multiple ways to arrive as the solution? Is your child strong in multiplication, but struggling with graphing? Games like Munchroom Math should always be balanced with more logic based game activities, but are still vital in helping your child practice core skills of reading and calculations in a more relaxed learning environment.
